“Thank you to all of the people who help here. The SOS is a miracle!”
Delaine Lowrey, 63 y.o.

I love that you can pick out what food you want at this food bank. Having a choice in what you take means I can choose foods that I know I can truly utilize at home.
The availability of fresh fruits and vegetables is amazing and unique among food pantries! I also have never been to a food pantry that allows you to come once every week and where you can take home fresh food. I have always been treated respectfully and with kindness here. There is no belittling or looking down on you.
I just want to say THANK YOU for the amazing outreach that you do and for helping me through the tough weeks! I was able to pack HEALTHY lunches for my daughter and I this month because of the wonderful things you provide. (blueberries, apples, summer squash, o.j., tomatoes, romaine lettuce ect....)
Thank you for providing not just for food but healthy fresh food! S.O.S. is a perfect model of what a food pantry should and can be! Thank you also for providing an outlet for fruits and vegetables that might otherwise go to waste find a place at the table for those that need it.

“SOS Mission is by far Key West’s most loving and compassionate organization. They supply those in times of need with clothing, food, and unqualified love. If you are able, please donate what you can. If you are not able to donate items, your time to distribute items is also appreciated. God Bless you Star of the Sea.”

SOS as of 2016 has distributed over 1,800,000 pounds in food alone each year! Provides 100,000 emergency services each year to at least 9,000 different individuals and is also a local pet food pantry, making sure that all family members are fed!

The SOS Foundation has grown and successfully reached its efforts in many ways through the course of its beginning in 2006.  The Foundation has continued to secure fresher, more nutritious foods for those in need, expanding our partnership with FarmShare and opening a new pantry and distribution site in the northernmost end of our county. With five refrigerated trucks on the road, we were able to increase our distribution efforts, serving more than 30 other feeding sites from Key Largo to Key West. We are now distributing in excess of 150,000 or more pounds of food per month - 1/2 million meals per year according to the USDA.  And as of 2016, the Foundation has distributed over 1,800,000 pounds of food and has provided 100,000 emergency services each year to 9,000 unduplicated individuals in Monroe County.

The SOS Foundation has made huge strides in helping to alleviate pressures that low-income families are facing. We have provided one of the largest food pantries in South Florida, allowing fresh produce to be accessible to these families, allowing them to have the monetary means of paying other bills and housing expenses. This helps alleviate the economic pressures on families, allowing them to use their income for other supplies needed or paying bills thus boosting the local economy. The newest additions to the Foundation are the Community Kitchen and the Nutrition Education Program which are ways SOS will continue to improve the lives low-income residents of Monroe County.
